16700 replaced the 16750, but kept a similar design.

 The 16700 is a cheaper version of the 16710 which was launched at the same time. The 16700 is equipped with calibre

 3175 (non-independent hour hand), a Sapphire crystal glass and white gold hands.

The 3175 is the most basic mechanism possible to achieve GMT operation. Mechanically speaking it consists of nearly nothing at all. It's your "good old" basic Rolex GMT, and

 operates prima facie no differently than Rolex GMTs have from ages past. The 24 hour wheel sits right next to the hour wheel and they just do their thing with no fuss. 

The beauty of this is, there's no confusion for anyone, and (bonus) the date quickset still works just like on the Sub or the Datejust or Milgauss. You can expect the killer

 amplitude and performance you've grown to love on all Rolex's products for the last twenty years.
