Rolex 1655 :

The first Explorer II of the 1970s was the liveliest decade for tool watches: after the launch of Rolex's Daytona and Deepsea in the 1960s, the 1970s was the heyday of stainless steel sports watches.

This trend continues today. The Rolex Explorer II 1655 was introduced in 1971. With its original 24-hour hand, it has accompanied many cavers and other adventurers. The Explorer II's stainless steel bezel makes it one of the most distinctive sports models of our time.

Like the famous Rolex Daytona, the Rolex 1655 sold only a handful of models in its early days. As a result, very few models are available for sale, which contributes to the popularity of the “Freccione” among collectors.

Despite its vintage look, this watch is robust and easy to wear - a sure sign of a sound investment.

The Mark I Dial characteristics:

The first dial produced for the crowned house's reference 1655 featured a large crown at 12 o'clock and the foot of the rounded Rolex “R”. At 6 o'clock, the inscription “T SWISS T” indicates the presence of tritium as the luminescent material for the indexes and hands.  This dial should be with a straight sweep second hand (without a tritium dot)

The crown logo remains “pointed”, with an extension of the central line at noon (reaching the top - no pun intended).

DESCRIPTION:

Mat finish in black color Rolex dial with immaculate white ROLEX typography.

The circular timer is white color, the triangle at 12' is a non-luminous creamy-yellow color.

The hour markers are tritium yellow-cream, with a few visible marks and dust (see photographs).

This is a heterogeneous patina, representing a few different gradations, especially under the part between 9 o'clock and noon.

The square indexes will be much lighter, tending towards vanilla.

Signed T SWISS T at 6 o'clock. Dater visible at 3 o'clock.

2 fixing feet on the back to accommodate Rolex's GMT caliber: 1575.

This dial has never been retouched or repainted before, it is absolutely untouched and sold as is and as described.

Very rare, unique piece.

Guaranteed to be 100% Authentic
