History:
In 1914, Hans Wilsdorf and his famous Rolex company in 1908, left England to settle in Geneva (exactly 18 rue du Marché) in order to escape the import tax of 33% on all import products. decided by the British government to finance the war effort.


This is where he invented the Rolex "Oyster", the first truly waterproof watch, and the Rolex "Perpetual", self-winding.


In terms of location, Rolex decided in 1960 to leave the building at 18, rue du Marché, Geneva, premises become too cramped. By making this choice, the watchmaker marks a break with the Geneva watch industry, traditionally located near the shores of the lake.
